Science Teaching
Chad is a dynamic and inventive high school science teacher with 15+ years’ teaching experience, including 5 years’ experience in a virtual setting. He enjoys making creative, hands-on lessons for students, working one-on-one to help students gain confidence, and engaging classes in memorable learning experiences that are active and eclectic.
Chad excels at creating connections with students, including those who find challenges in traditional learning environments. Evidence of his success as a teacher is shown by former years’ students who have asked to keep attending his classes just for fun.

Conservation Work
Chad served on the board of directors for the Utah Environmental Congress as both secretary and president, where he was instrumental in protecting Utah’s forests.
Some of his professional experience includes conducting roadless and wilderness inventories on National Forest lands, and developing a wilderness proposal. He has also participated in other fieldwork including fish and wildlife surveys, and stream habitat and flow measurements.
Hobbies
Chad is a lifelong hiker, cross-country skier, wilderness navigator, map aficionado, and protector of wild places and their inhabitants, as well as an avid nature and wildlife photographer. He happily navigates all types of terrains during all seasons.
He is a regular contributer to iNaturalist, having posted more than 100 observations of plants and animals.
Chad is also an experienced animal tracker, and he has been documenting wildlife with trail cameras for over 20 years. He has led students, Boy Scout troops, friends, and family members on numerous nature hikes, and continues to explore the outdoors on regular hiking adventures alone or with his wife and dogs, occasionally chronicled on his blog, Uintah Wildman.

Testimonials
“Chad’s passion for science was palpable and truly inspiring. He possessed a remarkable ability to ignite that same spark in his students. I vividly recall the enthusiasm surrounding his science hikes; the students were invariably engaged and returned from these excursions brimming with newfound knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the natural world. His classroom lessons were equally dynamic and interactive, fostering a love for learning through hands-on exploration.” – James M.
